What really happens when you graduate? You just go back home and everybody acts like you never died and that's that? End of story?

Serious question. You fix me, you put me all back together again and somebody somewhere deems me fit and good and ready to blow this dump. And then what? Am I just supposed to, I dunno... be a waitress?

It just struck me that it was mostly Peter and Adam. Which there's nothing wrong with, I just wondered if there was anyone else that I'd over looked, that's all.

There's not. What does it matter who I talk to?

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't matter. I can't make you talk, or not talk to people, and I have no objection to either of them.

I just wondered if a friend who... doesn't have a history with you, or powers, might be a good thing.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. Which is why there's those two. It's always good to have friends, don't write it off.

Peter's not just a friend, he's my boyfriend. And Adam's... Adam.

I know that. I... I don't know, I was just thinking your life can't revolve around them entirely. It's up to you, it was just a passing thought of mine.

My life doesn't revolve around them!

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. It doesn't, fair enough. But just... think about it.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess... I miss having a job.

private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you?

Then go down to the kitchen. They're short of people and it's just making sandwiches. For the minute.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not a job, that's a chore.

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye, but it's something to do. I know I'd go nuts if I had nothing to do.

What is a job, then? And what do you miss about it?

private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I miss... being out in he world and ...I dunno, finding people.

private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean by finding people?

Isn't that... something you can aim for, though. I mean, you asked what you can do when you graduate and there's... that's a start. You can be out in the world and doing stuff.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean tracking them down. The job I did for the Company. The job I got fired from, by the way, so I can't exactly go home and do that.

I want my old job back.

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see.

That job. No, I guess you can't have that job back, and to be honest, it's probably a good thing.

There's more to the world than the Company, you know. Which I guess is the point I was trying to, hamfistedly, make about Peter and Adam.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I know there's more than the Company! I just... I don't know what it is.

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is, bringing me back to my original point, why you should take time to talk to other people. That's the best way to find out.

private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I can talk to other people. But I don't need friends.

private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Friends make you weak. And you're supposed to share stuff. I don't need that.

Re: private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't make you weak. If anything, they make you stronger, if you want to look at it like that. They help you out when you need it and you can rely on them for things. You have to give it back of course, but they don't make you weak. You can't rely on yourself all the time. Nobody can.

private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't need to rely on anybody.

private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, come on, we all do. I rely on people, there's nothing wrong with it. I want people to be able to rely on me, too.
