[She sounds SO BITTER. She sniffles, not like she's crying but rather like she's just had the longest day of her life, everything hurts, and her nose is running. For a second, it sounds like she's about to answer her own question, but she stops herself.]

She sighed. She'd thought she'd be dead right now.]

[He paused and watched her for a moment or so, then walked over and sat on the side of the bath next to her,]

"You can talk to me about it, you know."

[Elle shifted uncomfortably when Howie sat next to her, but quickly forced herself to relax. It was just Howie.]

"It's just... confusing. You know?"

[He noticed her shift uncomfortably, and actually moved a slight bit along the side of the bath,]

"I know. But it might be less confusing if you talked about it to someone."

"I thought he..." [She grimaced, trying to find a way to say that she'd thought he loved her without sounding corny.] "We slept together."

[He paused, and tried not to grimace at the idea, because he knew that Sylar had killed Elle, and there was no way he liked the idea of the two things together.]

"Did... did it mean something to you?" [That was his best, non-judgemental response.]

[He looked down at the floor, before looking over at her,] "How... how much? I'm sorry, Elle. He shouldn't have..." [Pause] "How much?"

[He saw that, and held up a slightly placating hand,] "Okay... it just did. Do you think he betrayed you?"

"He did what he does." [Elle didn't really blame Sylar. She should have known that her fantasy of living happily ever after would never happen.]

[Howie shook his head,] "But do you forgive him for it? Just because it's... what he does?"

[Elle nodded, and frowned. If she was supposed to be mad but wasn't really, she was probably doing this wrong.] "Uh huh."

[He drummed his fingers slightly in thought on the edge of the bath,] "I can't tell you how to feel, though. What do you feel about him? About it?"

[He paused and stared at the floor,] "Just... think about it, at least. I'll leave you alone now, if you want. If you still want to talk, I'll stay."

[He was worried about her, but was also worried about forcing issues too much and making them worse. It was a fine balance, especially after what happened last time he got it wrong.]

"Whatever," [she muttered. She didn't want to seem like she really needed him because of something so... She didn't even know. It felt like it had been kinda inevitable. At this point, after all the things that kept happening to her, it even felt normal. Like getting killed was just part of the routine.]
