I'm locked out.

[ooc: Elle's back from her canon-update! Complete with malfunctioning powers and all that good stuff. And 'cause she's awesome, she's also locked out of her and Peter's room. So she's sitting pathetically in the hallway looking scrawny and sleep-deprived and probably not smelling great because she almost certainly hasn't eaten, slept, or showered for the past few days.

Also, she meant it to be private to Peter, but it's not. Again, she's just that awesome.]

oh good cause that's what I was thinking too

[Peter just frowns at that message, but he still grabs a sedative and some pain killers from the Infirmary before he leaves it to pretty much run down the hall to his room.

Elle was back (thank God) and she seemed to know who she was (thank God). He tries to hold off the worrying until he sees her for himself.

When he sees her though, he immediately starts to worry. He even shushes the dog, which is something that really never happens.]

"God Elle, what happened?"

[Elle picks her head up off the pillow and blinks at him, trying to get her brain working. Once she processes the fact that it's Peter - her Peter, not that other Peter she saw at Pinehearst - she jumps up and throws her arms around him.]

"I went home. I mean, I woke up at the Company like I was never gone, and your mom fired me..." [She leaves it there for now, since the saga of the week or two she spent back in the real world isn't the point.] "I can't control my ability anymore."

[Well, that last bit explains the smell.

Peter holds on to her for a few seconds before he pushes her back so he can check if she's hurt. It doesn't look like it. He'd bet that she's just tired and irritable.]

"Lay back down. We can figure out what's wrong with your ability after you've rested."

[Elle nods and sits back on the bed.] "I need a sedative or something. It hurts," [she said reluctantly, still unhappy about admitting that there was something wrong with her ability.]

"I know." [Peter sits next to her, pulling a bottle of pain killers out of his pocket and syringe with the sedative.] "Have you talked to Howie? Maybe he can take your ability away for a few days. Give you a break."

[He puts the needle to her arm, pausing long enough to tell her that it might hurt a little bit before pushing it into her flesh.]

"Yeah, he said he'd take it away." [Elle doesn't want to lose her ability, even for a few days, but she desperately needs to sleep for a while. And shower. She really needs a shower.

Once Peter's done injecting her with things and giving her pills, she flings her arms around his neck again.] "I missed you. I didn't remember I missed you, but I totally did."

[Peter does his best to ignore the smell in favor of hugging her back because she's back and she remembers who he is, which is more than he could give her when he came back from his trip off the Barge.]

"I missed you too. It really sucked when I woke up and you weren't there."

[Elle pulls back and bites her lip, giving him an apologetic half-smile as she peruses his face.] "I know what that feels like."

[It's a little strange to think that the feelings she had when Peter disappeared are probably almost identical to the feelings he's been having. Those feelings sucked a lot, and her smile turns into a small frown as she thinks about him feeling that bad. This must be what empathy feels like, or close enough.]

"How long was I gone?"

"Just a couple of days." [He moves to run his fingers through her hair and press a kiss against her temple.] "You should probably lie down before the sedative kicks in."

"At least it wasn't that long." [Elle nods and lies down, reaching for his hand.] "You better not pull a disappearing act on me. I expect you to be right there when I wake up."

[Peter gives her his hand, squeezing her fingers tightly.] "I'll be here. Nothing could tear me away now."

[Elle squeezes his hand back, holding on tight as she settles down and starts to drift off. Her ability is still like a painful itch, but the sedative Peter gave her is working.] "Good. Love you."
