So do we get a medal or a pin or something when we've been here a year? They do it in AA and stuff.

[private to Adam]

Guess what I convinced my warden to give me?

[private to Krycek]

I hear you have something that belongs to me now.

Yeah?

What's that?

Three pages from a warden's journal. Seems like I won Prefect's little auction.

Poison, handcuffs, and a night with yours truly. Which, according to the middle man, I give you in return for all three pages.

Well, I'll be damned.

That's convenient.

How about tonight in my room?

Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You got it.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure that's actually something to be proud of.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't exactly qualify my feelings about being here for a whole year as "proud." It was just a thought, anyway.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
A good thing, undoubtedly. It is a long time, a year. Think anything's changed much since then? Except the revolving conveyor belt of wardens, but that's a given.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
My hatred of this place has grown exponentially.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
But, whilst we're using maths, this doesn't corrolate to an increase in effort to do the right thing and find a way out of here? I would have thought they were quite directly related.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I've tried doing the right thing, and I've barely ever stopped trying to find a way out of here.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You might have an interesting definition of the 'right thing', then. You might want to revise that a little.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I've tried to change. It didn't exactly work.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Then we need to find new ways of approaching it, that's all. There's plenty of chance yet and it's the only way you're going to get off here.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
And it's about more than that. You have to show people you actually mean it, you have to be true to your word. And...given the frequency with which you lie, to me and to others, you can't expect them to just take that word on face value. You have to demonstrate it means something.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been better about that. I've been doing it less.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you? Because I've seen a lot of lies from you recently and there are still a lot of issues I'm lacking the whole truth on.

Do something for me, then. As a gesture to demonstrate that you really aren't still hiding something from me and to demonstrate to everyone else that you can be trust worthy.

[Private]

Let me see these 'files' Sylar talks about. Back on an old issue, I know, but I've been doing a bit of...evidence collection, shall we say. You show me them, and I count it as a massive act of honesty. You refuse to and I count it as deceit and will come and look at them anyway. Your choice. I know if you don't have a copy, you will have access to a copy.

Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you gonna share it around? It's just, like, names.

Re: Private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would depend on its contents. The only people I may share it with are security and only if I consider the contents a risk. I also may require to show it to someone a little more capable with modern technology, to make sure that is all the information you have. But that is all.

If all you do have is names, then you have little to worry about.

Re: Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of contents would you call risky?

Re: Private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That's for me to judge and not you. You're going to have to trust me with them.

I promise you this much: I will not publish them to the entire barge, nor to the entirety of the wardens. The most I will give them to is security, and then only if strictly necessary. Trust me to keep to that, and I'll take you handing them over as a genuine and honest gesture.

Private - she's totally stalling until Adam tells her what to do :/

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
But any information that I have, I haven't used for anything, and you couldn't prove that I was planning on using it for anything. So it can't really be "risky" if I wasn't gonna use it.

Private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
As I said. I doubt I will have reason to pass it on to anyone. But I want to know what information you do have. This is more an exercise in trust than me trying to mitigate risk. Do the responsible thing and let me read it, or I will come there and read it anyway, whether you like it or not, and, on top of it all, you still won't have been honest with me.

Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
But if you're not trying to mitigate risk, you don't have to show it to security, right?

Re: Private

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I probably won't have to, no. But I can't promise you I won't, because I don't know what's in those files. If I come across something likely to cause harm to others, I have no choice. But that is not my ultimate aim here.

Is is a shower?

Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It's my bathroom, just the way it used to be. Which includes a shower.

Private

[identity profile] lazarusrisen.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Brilliant. How much groveling did you have to do to get that?

Private

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hardly any.

He's asking for something new now. He wants me to hand over these files he's heard so much about, which he will regard as a great show of honesty and how I can be trustworthy and blah blah blah and if I don't he'll be really mad and he'll have one of the tech geeks hack my harddrive to make sure I'm not hiding anything from him. And if they're incriminating or whatever, which they are, he's gonna show them to security.

[identity profile] lazarusrisen.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Transcribe a hard copy. Give me the hard copy and I'll put it up secure in my journal. Then scratch through the entry, rip the page out, do something so it's not there anymore. After a while, you can copy the list back in your journal.

[identity profile] stillnot-ginger.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Most likely not. Probably just the warm glow of satisfaction is all there is.

[identity profile] cautionarystory.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. I'm glowing.
